Tristan’s First Christmas

On the way to Nana Jerri's place. ->>

On December 25th in the year of our lord 2009, Tristan had his first Christmas, his mom and several witnesses (with questionable integrity) state that he said “Mama”, he rolled over all on his own (twice) and he slept all night without waking up. The long night of sleeping didn’t stop his mother from waking up at least twice to check on him.

At his first Christmas morning he opened three gifts. He received a thick jump suit for keeping him warm. It is so thick he probably could strike out on an expedition into the deepest tundra (or the mid west these days) and stay cherry cheeked and giggling. He received sweaters and pants to fit his growing body and plenty of books and toys from his aunt, uncle, nanna and papaw.

<<- Silly Mommy and Daddy

A note on his quest to roll over on his own:
His temper seems to match his father’s.
He gets red faced and groans and moans his woeful heart out when he can’t move his arm out of the way to finish rolling over on his belly. We have to check ourselves to make sure we are not using the “rack” or a “thumb screw” on him just to make sure it is no our fault that he sounds like he is being tortured by the inquisition of old Spain. Maybe, like his dad, he’ll persevere through his own frustration and grin with triumph when he can finally roll over and do a push up. We will have to wait and see.

I am a little skeptical about the “Mama” thing but that’s only because I think he should say “dada” first. Oh well.

That is Tristan’s first Christmas. If it is any indication of his speed of development he should be applying to Harvard some time next month and becoming partner in the Wright, Wright & Wright law firm by the end of the summer. I’m sure he’ll run for office when he is two and be elected Senator of Tennessee. By 5 he’ll receive three Nobel peace prizes for the work he’ll do when he is 8. Yes there are great things to come from this little hellion.

Brazilian Cherry Floor

It might be a punishment for us since we didn't spend too much on Tristan's needs. We got lots of second handed baby gears like stroller, crib, changing table, etc. So the flood comes, and we have to spend a whole lot more for this home. Well, I hope Tristan would appreciate this floor more.

We picked Brazilian Cherry for it's color variation and the redness reflected in the wood. And with time goes by, its color would change to darker wherever there is direct sun light. That is totally opposite to most woods. I need to pick up a rug for the sofa in the living room so we may move all those heavy stuff over from the kitchen. Man, my place was messed up. I just moved the dining chairs down from upstairs. Josh needs to put the dining table together and move it downstairs. Then our home would be back to normal at least for now.

I HATE YARDWORK

I just realized how hard it must be to figure out who is actually writing these blogs. Well let me tell you. It is whomever gets to the keyboard and hits post. Thats who. I like to play that it is tristan, Wenmei likes to write in chinese. But the whole point is to write something that we can enjoy and read later on. Maybe even let Tristan read and take it up when he wants because i know he will learn to type before he can ride a bike!

Let me tell you what i'm doing today. I'm annoying Wenmei by typing this while she is trying to take a nap. That is just the bonus though... what i'm really doing is avoiding the YARDWORK. I hate it so much and i haven't found a reason to really keep doing it other than "guilt" that when it gets so bad that i can't stand it, i know no one else can...

Sometimes though, i guess you have to just get over the "slack off" phase in the day and get some work done. Otherwise what was the point of the last 2 hours? Did you get any value out of surfing the internet or playing with your new iPhone. Have to set a better example than that for Tristan... then again... I HATE YARDWORK

p.s. at least it gets me out of folding clothes ;p

Josherella

Today we received bad news from the insurance company. They agreed to pay for the "mitigation" services that they already ordered but have, sadly, decided that our "flood" damage is not covered. This means the poor Josherella must learn how to tear out, replace, and paint drywall in the garage! He has already started his foray into manual labor that he is awfully unfamiliar with. Just take a look at him trying to clean the kitchen floor!!!

Warning, some images may not be appropriate for those less than the age of 150 or with moderate tastes in men.
