Tubes for Tristan's ear
We may have to put tubes in Tristan's ear. First it is to prevent more ear infections, more importantly not to slow his language/hearing development, despite the fact that I hate to put anything in his body that was not initially in when he was created.
Poor little thing after tube surgery. He was grabbing Mama's collar so she will not leave him to strangers while he was taking a nap.

Apr 2010 Updates
Tristan got his new Excersaucer on Saturday. Now we have excuses to play toys that we didn't have while in our childhood, especially for Mom.
Tristan smiles like his Mother with eyes closed.

First Day to a home day care
Officially, today is the first day we brought Tristan to Kris' place.
We woke up around 5:30AM. Packed things ready including diapers, wipes, milk, formula, pacifier, his little green bowls for rice cereals, his blue Fedex square that could make sounds from Nana Jerri, extra clothes in case he mess up.
Tristan was with Josh in the car, I was following behind. Any noise would makes me think Tristan is crying for help.
Kris is a very nice lady. Tristan smiled at her when I was trying to kinda introduce her to him. Then she took him and we were chatting. I was trying to tell Kris all the not so good habits we had established for him. He was never on schedule. My mother feed him constantly. Whenever he cries we would pick him up. We feed him too much rice cereals already just because he likes it. Suddenly I saw his mouth curling downwards and about to cry. I took him over just to hold him a little bit longer. When I had to leave at the door, he just stared at me, confused. I felt so bad like I just abandoned him to a strange place. When I was in the car my tears just fall down. Poor baby!!
On the way to work, suddenly I was thinking of my Mom. On the 4th day of August, 1998, she was watching me off at the airport, stepping on a airplane for the first time in my life, to a totally different country. I was thrilled, too excited to even look back. A few weeks later, I got the letter from my sister. Mom cried hard. I was too busy at school work to even think much about it. Today, I understand exactly how my Mom felt that day. I don't remember where I saw it. It says when you have a child, it feels like your heart is walking outside. So my mother has four hearts walking outside. Imagine that!
I called three times today to make sure he is fine. I am glad he did good after Kris reassured me that he was having a good time. He loved watching another 2 year old Noah. He turned over a couple of times and surprised Kris. I am glad we made it.

100 days anniversary

Tristan's actual 100th day was on Jan 4th, 2010; we celebrated on the 6th. I am writing about this day today on Jan 12th. What a slacker Mama.
We ( Nanna Jerri, Papaw Jimmy, Granny Yinglan, Josh and I ) went to Corky's on Wednesday night. He drooled all over. Either he started teething already or he loved BBQ food smell. After we came home, we put on all the baby jewelries my Mom brought over representing gifts from my parents and sisters and brother. They are gold pendent in a old lock shape with his birth animal OX on it; silver necklaces and bangles. No baby rings. :-). Then Mom put on his red little shirt. He was like a star showing off his new outfit. We took lots of pictures. I knew it's such a small scale celebration comparing the ones in China. I was just glad Tristan was getting all the blessings(superstitious me). I don't think he could pick out his career yet. It's a tradition we put stuff representing different careers to predict his future. e.g. a law dictionary(lawyer), a stethoscope(doctor), or a broom(janitor). I don't think I will ever put a broom for him to choose. :-)
We wish Tristan a healthy, blessed and prosperous life.
祝小浩浩健康成长,长命百岁。

Tristan’s First Christmas

On the way to Nana Jerri's place. ->>
On December 25th in the year of our lord 2009, Tristan had his first Christmas, his mom and several witnesses (with questionable integrity) state that he said “Mama”, he rolled over all on his own (twice) and he slept all night without waking up. The long night of sleeping didn’t stop his mother from waking up at least twice to check on him.

At his first Christmas morning he opened three gifts. He received a thick jump suit for keeping him warm. It is so thick he probably could strike out on an expedition into the deepest tundra (or the mid west these days) and stay cherry cheeked and giggling. He received sweaters and pants to fit his growing body and plenty of books and toys from his aunt, uncle, nanna and papaw.
<<- Silly Mommy and Daddy
A note on his quest to roll over on his own:
His temper seems to match his father’s.
He gets red faced and groans and moans his woeful heart out when he can’t move his arm out of the way to finish rolling over on his belly. We have to check ourselves to make sure we are not using the “rack” or a “thumb screw” on him just to make sure it is no our fault that he sounds like he is being tortured by the inquisition of old Spain. Maybe, like his dad, he’ll persevere through his own frustration and grin with triumph when he can finally roll over and do a push up. We will have to wait and see.
->> Goofy Auntie and Uncle
I am a little skeptical about the “Mama” thing but that’s only because I think he should say “dada” first. Oh well.

That is Tristan’s first Christmas. If it is any indication of his speed of development he should be applying to Harvard some time next month and becoming partner in the Wright, Wright & Wright law firm by the end of the summer. I’m sure he’ll run for office when he is two and be elected Senator of Tennessee. By 5 he’ll receive three Nobel peace prizes for the work he’ll do when he is 8. Yes there are great things to come from this little hellion.
